We’re a group of friends from different parts of the world who met in Yunnan, China. One of us, AL, is from sunny Singapore. Her journey with China started back in 1998 on a work trip to Shanghai and Beijing. Back then, Beijing was full of bicycles, cars were few and far between, and the tallest hotel in the business district was just 10 stories high!
AL was instantly drawn to China’s rich history and fast-paced growth. In 2007, she decided to pack her bags and move to Beijing to experience life like a local. After traveling around Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America over the past 30 years, AL realized that China has it all—breathtaking scenery, fascinating culture, deep history, amazing architecture, fun things to do, and of course, delicious food.
That’s how ChinaGoWhere started—just a fun idea to help other travellers experience China the way she did, especially if you don’t speak the language. Whether you’re planning your first visit or returning to see more, we’re here to help make your trip easy, meaningful, and fun.
Sure, there are plenty of travel companies out there offering tours to China. Some even include English-speaking guides. But here’s the thing—most of them partner with local agencies in China that mainly cater to domestic tourists. That means the experience often isn’t quite right for international travellers. The pace, the food, the style of guiding—it can all feel a bit off.
We saw that gap and decided to do things differently.
At ChinaGoWhere, everything we offer is based on our own personal travel experiences. Every destination we recommend is a place we’ve actually visited and enjoyed. The hotels? We’ve stayed in them. The restaurants? We’ve eaten there. The scenic spots? We’ve walked them ourselves (sometimes twice!).
We understand that traveling in China can feel a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re going solo or prefer a slower, more comfortable pace. That’s why our trips are thoughtfully designed with international travellers in mind. Clean rest stops, food you can trust, help with dietary needs, flexible plans, and hosts who genuinely care. We’re not just selling trips—we’re sharing the kind of travel we’d want for ourselves. Simple, safe, personal, and full of great memories.
